Both of Ryder Industries’ plants, Coastal and Inland, have been awarded the certification of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA). These achievements underscore Ryder’s continued dedication to high quality in both manufacturing and corporate social responsibility.
The RBA, formerly the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), Code of Conduct establishes standards to ensure that working conditions in the electronics industry or industries in which electronics is a key component and its supply chains are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that business operations are environmentally responsible and conducted ethically. Its members include IBM, Microsoft, Philips, Volvo and Sony
The goal of the RBA is to improve social, economic, and environmental conditions in the global electronic supply chain through use of a standardized code of conduct. The key elements of the latest code, RBA V6.0, are: Labor, Health & Safety, Management systems, and Ethics & Environmental. RBA participants must regard the Code as a total supply chain initiative. At a minimum, Ryder also requires its next-tier suppliers to acknowledge and implement the Code.
Fundamental to adopting the Code is the understanding that a business, in all of its activities, must operate in full compliance with the laws, rules and regulations of the countries in which it operates. The Code also encourages participants to go beyond legal compliance, drawing upon internationally recognized standards, in order to advance social and environmental responsibility and business ethics.
Both Ryder plants received high scores, continuing to prove their competitive value and reflecting the pride that our employees take in their work. Ryder is dedicated to manufacturing excellence and empowering its people. We look forward to continuing our adherence to the highest standards.
