Ryder receives an honour from the Shenzhen Environmental Protection Agency
for energy saving and waste reduction
  • Ryder has always taken its environmental responsibilities seriously, and over the years has dedicated financial resources and plenty of staff energy to the control of its ecological footprint. This year, its efforts have been recognized by the Shenzhen government. In June 2010, Ryder received an award entitled “Leading Enterprise in Waste Reduction” along with 20,000 RMB from the Shenzhen Environmental Protection Bureau.
  • Ryder’s gains in this area were primarily achieved through in-house schemes addressing resource utilisation. Specifically, the environmental achievements of Ryder in 2009 include the following:
  • Saving 6000 m3 of water and reducing 6000 m3 of waste water through its “Recycling Waste Water and Rain Project” and “Controlling Washroom Water Usage Project”.
  • Saving more than 100,000kWh electricity for the company through a “Lighting Control Project” and “Water Heating System Energy Saving Project”
  • Reducing the disposal of battery and solid wastes by setting up recycling schemes.
  • Ryder staff work according to the motto, ‘Let’s build a greener earth together’, and are delighted to have received public recognition for their work in this area. There are further ambitions to enhance environmental protection by adopting more environmentally friendly technologies, promoting the sustainable development of the company and of wider society.
