- An introduction to Ryder's Learning & Development System
- Ryder is dedicated to being a learning organization, distinguishing itself from other manufacturing companies and enhancing the service it provides to customers. Here, we offer a brief introduction to the modules in our learning and development system.
- Training System
- PDCA Training: PDCA stands for ‘Plan, Do, Check, Act’ and is a valuable management tool. Staffs are taught how to use it effectively through a comprehensive training system including a training needs survey, training course development, training course evaluation, training effect evaluation and feedback, as well as action tracking.
- Full-turnkey Training System: An all-round training system including New Staff Orientation training, On-Board training, and On-the-Job training to ensure staff are as prepared as possible before starting at Ryder and are supported in maximizing their potential at the company.
- Open and Varied Learning Modes: Learning modes include in-house training, workshops, seminars hosted by internal and external training organisations, one-on-one coaching, e-learning, and individual self-directed learning.
- Diversified Training Course System: A course system including: management training (New Manager Training, Successor Training, Supervisor Training and Production Line Leader Training), professional training (Professional knowledge and Skills), and general training.
- Knowledge Management System: Ryder has an online platform with resources available to help staff build the knowledge and skills they need in their function department and key projects. The Knowledge Management System also facilitates delivery of Ryder School programmes.
- Training Management policies to support the training system
- Learning Credit Policy: A learning policy set up by L&D which specifies the learning tasks of staff at different levels based on their work requirements.
- Internal Trainer Management Policy: A policy to select, evaluate and develop our internal trainers and training courses.
- Key training project:
- Dragon Plan: A leadership programme based on the Gallop Organisation’s “Strength Theory” (http://strengths.gallup.com/110443/History.aspx ). The programme aims to help staff find their individual strengths, develop them in a team and exert them in the organisation so as to harness talents for the continual development of the company. Within Ryder, it has succeeded in enhancing confidence and management skills of staff, as well as interdepartmental communication.
This programme started in 2008, and it is planned to be a 5-year programme.
- TTT Programme: A programme designed to train and develop the internal trainer team, composed of a series of intensive training sessions and long-term practices.
- Execution Improvement Training: A management programme based on Action Learning Methodologies, a combination of in-house training and management system improvement.
- Supervisor Training: Available to middle management, Supervisor Training is delivered by the company’s most experienced and effective internal trainers and managers, and is supported by management improvement actions.
- Production Line Leader Training: A routine development programme for all production line leaders, which includes some production management skills training and other professional trainings.
